Publications and Content Specialist

The Publications and Content Specialist will work alongside the Guild Executive Committee to manage the website and the organization’s social media accounts, as well as help facilitate publications and outputs from Guild events.

The position holder will have the opportunity to develop demonstrable skills with various social media, make and sustain connections with the entire international membership of the Guild and major academic publishers, and build a record of facilitating research publications.

This is a volunteer position.  There are no defined educational requirements for this position.

Expected amount of time spent on this position is approximately 1 hour per week for the website and social media.  More time will be required following programming with publishable outputs, increasing to about 4-5 hours per week (episodically over a few months) to coordinate with the Executive Committee, authors, and publishers.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Digital content management: Managing content on the organization’s website and other digital platforms.

  • Project management: Coordinating content creation timelines, helping to assign tasks to writers and designers, and managing publication schedules.

  • Collaboration: Working with different members of the MWG Board and other members to gather information, refine messaging, and align content with organizational goals.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong writing skills

  • Understanding of most popular social media platforms, and ability to learn how to use them in support of the Guild

  • Attention to detail and ability to proofread effectively

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies

  • Knowledge of graphic design and multimedia formats; ability to support graphic design needs of the Guild
